As we all know very well by now, a lot can change in a year.
And since I know you're the kind of folks who have a growth mindset, the end of a year can be a really important point of reflection and intention setting. When I work with my life coaching clients, I always like to take a look back at just how far they've come as well as what they can look forward to. Instead of making it only about achievements or tangible goals, I really like to integrate the feelings that were felt, perspectives that were shifted, and new mindset that was formed.
Here is a great ritual for all you kick ass people who would like to add some powerful mindfulness to your growth journey.
MINDFUL YEAR IN REFLECTION:
- Create the mood: Light a candle, play some beautiful music, look through pictures of this year to help remind you of special memories (maybe a lot of zoom calls😉) and then set an intention for your ritual. (ie. gratitude, acceptance, to be more present, etc.)
- You can do this alone, with your partner or your family. You might want first to write your insights to the questions & then go around and share your experiences & learnings together.
What were you surprised by this year that you loved?
What did you discover about yourself that you didn’t know?
What were your most proud or favorite moments around different areas of your life: family, creativity, friends, romantic, financial, health...
What were some of the biggest lessons & "ah-ha"s you had? How have you grown? What have you learned? (If you get stuck only thinking about the hard moments, see how going through those hard moments made you stronger, better and life richer… )
If there is anything still left to forgive, to wipe your year clean… this is the time… forgiveness sets YOU free.
MINDFUL INTENTION FOR THE YEAR TO COME:
What feels most alive and important for you to create in 2021? List what’s knocking at your heart to say ‘yes’ to.
Examples: Getting more lean muscle Writing a Book Becoming a Powerful Speaker Getting Better At What You Do & Deeply Serving With Your Work Volunteering Traveling (I think it’s safe to say, many of us want to travel😊) Changing Professions & Using this Time to Go for It!
Now circle the top 3 most important ones and share why you want this… Then write down how having this serves the world… if it’s more than just for you, it’s more charged.
Share gratitude for all that’s been given, and all that’s coming…
And that's it! Keep your intentions in your journal, on a sticky note, or as your computer screen saver so you can remember them throughout the year.
Here’s to you and all that you are!
